How to get involved

STARS has trained volunteers to work along side the paid staff to provide one-to-one bereavement support for bereaved children and young people up to 25yrs.

We usually recruit volunteers in February and September each year.
There will be a 'find out about volunteering' morning on Saturday 29th June so please register your interest by contacting us as soon as you can.

Following acceptance after an interview volunteers enter a training programme of 30hrs before beginning work with clients.
There is a six month probationary period which stars when client work begins.
At the end of the probationary period a final interview is conducted - this enables both parties to establish if the volunteer placement is right for all parties.

Students on College placements are required to complete the 30hrs training before fact to face counselling work with clients

STARS undertake to provide Supervision and on-going training throughout the period of working with clients.

All members of STARS are required to complete and enhanced DBS clearance

We recruit volunteers twice a year, if you are interested in volunteering please register your interest and we will contact you when we next look to recruit.
